Detonation engine

Detonation engines are believed to be able to open up a new era in space exploration as they could make rockets far lighter, faster, their structure simpler and safer. It is one of top-priority challenges occupying the minds of engineers and physicists who dream about technologies for deep space and interplanetary travels. In its essence, the technology uses controlled explosions to boost a vehicle in space. In comparison with conventional propulsion systems, detonation engines would generate a large thrust while consuming significantly less fuel, which makes this system so compelling for any activity in space.
A leading THETA propulsion system engineer has patented an invention on how to use the energy of detonation waves and to build a detonation engine. Invention considers both solid, liquid or gas propellant. The technology proposes a structure of the engine able to perform controlled repetitive detonations and generate thrust. It is considered for a range of applications, i.e. rocket engines, compressors, electric generators.
